About Luan Xu was born in beijing in 2003 and now studying Painting at Rhode Island School of Design, planning to graduate with a BFA in 2025.

My recent works revolve around the topic of memory. Memory is the history of an individual, also a mirror reflecting the history of the social environment. I try to reflect on my life experience and represent it with a new attitude. Meanwhile, mining memories is an exploration of one's identity. I want to know what I remember, what I forget, and discover why it's so.

Besides, I explore the issue of women in East Asia. Feminism is a new term in the patriarchal system of capitalism that still exists in the mass society. I see that females bear full or close to full family responsibilities, and I see that in situations of class disparity, females become the first choice to be excluded from the social structure. Compared to the intense resistance, the overly authoritative environment left East Asian women in a dull situation. I want to describe the social factors that contribute to these situations, use materials strongly connected to identity, condense the patriarchal environment that is subconsciously overlooked, and bring viewers into sculptures or installations that can connect with their bodies or minds.
